McLean, VA, October 2005 - In October, Animal Nannies donated $4,068 to the ASPCA disaster
relief fund. Approximately 50 clients and friends of ANOM participated in this fund drive,
whose donations were matched by ANOM. ASPCA spokesman Matthew Bershadker explained to ANOM
owner Karen Loss that the ASPCA and Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) have been
working very closely together on animal rescue and relief efforts in the wake of Hurricanes
Katrina and Rita.
The organizations have jointly pooled donations, which go directly to the ASPCA Disaster
Relief Fund. These donations helped the ASPCA dispatch rescue and animal care teams, send
emergency equipment and supplies and give shelters devastated by the storms more than $2
million in recovery grants. According to the groupís website, over 200,000 dogs and nearly
250,000 cats were stranded after the storm, based on estimates by FEMA and the U.S. Census
Bureau. To read more about your money in action, visit http://www.aspca.org . You can
download a list of projects, grants and emergency funds the ASPCA has been able to fund
because of charitable donations for hurricane relief.
On behalf of his organization, Matthew Bershadker expressed appreciation for the efforts and
generosity of ANOM's clients and friends who made donations.
Local Pet Care Company CompletesPet Supply Donation Drive
for Humane Society
McLean, VA ñ On November 26, 2003, Animal Nannies of McLean (ANOM), a professional pet care
service based in McLean, completed a pet supply donation drive among its clientele to help
support the Humane Society of Fairfax County. Among the many donations provided were dog and
cat food, blankets, rugs, towels, leashes and collars, rawhides, Kong toys, litterboxes and
supplies, cat beds, and pet health supplies. In all, several hundred dollars worth of
supplies were donated.
ANOM owner Karen Loss emphasized the need to aid this areaís homeless pets, particularly as
her clients looked forward to celebrating Thanksgiving. She asked them to consider the joy
pets bring to their lives and then to help bring some of that joy to the lives of pets who
have experienced difficult circumstances and are now awaiting permanent loving homes of
their own.
The Humane Society of Fairfax County is a non-profit, private organization established in
1968 by local concerned citizens to protect and rescue wild and domestic animals from
cruelty, neglect and abandonment.

New Scheduling System Benefits Local Pet Care Clients
McLean, VA, 5/29/03 ñ Animal Nannies of McLean (ANOM), a professional pet care service based
in McLean, is the first company of its kind in Northern Virginia to implement a state-of-
the-art web-based scheduling system called Petsitter Assistant (PA). The program designer, a
software specialist in Atlanta, worked closely with the owner of his personal petsitting
company to develop this client information management system which became operational in
November 2002. He has since worked closely with ANOM, as well, in testing
new aspects of the system as he develops them.
The petsitting and dogwalking service industry has expanded dramatically in the past decade,
but software dedicated to its specific needs has been virtually non-existent. Most companies
used cumbersome card files or makeshift computer spreadsheets to meet their needs. Karen
Loss sought a better way. Unfortunately, she found no off-the-shelf scheduling software that
could fulfill her companyís needs...until she ran across Petsitter Assistant.
Petsitter Assistant runs on commercial strength, secure software used by approximately 90
percent of the banking industry. PA not only provides automated client and staff
scheduling, but it offers ANOM clients great line-item confirmation notices and invoices by
email for all scheduled service. Many clients have offered praise for the recently
implemented system. One went so far as to use ANOMís schedule printouts as high quality
examples to her own large company client in New York City.
In a successful effort to make its office management more effective and efficient, ANOM has
brought increased professionalism and satisfaction to its clientele of pet owners which,
after just one year in operation, will soon number more than 200.
